Domestic violence training program offered by WPDI

The Workforce and Professional Development Institute at the College of Lake County will offer a Domestic Violence Training Program in partnership with A Safe Place.

The program will take place at the CLC Grayslake campus on Tuesdays, Thursdays, (6-10 p.m.) and Saturdays (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) from Nov. 3-24. Cost: $300.

Designed to raise awareness of domestic violence in all facets of your community, the program will help you learn to respond safely and appropriately to domestic violence issues. It will present current information on the battered women’s movement, the dynamics of domestic violence, barriers to leaving an abuser, lethality assessment tools, effects of domestic violence on children, teen dating violence, orders of protection and legal advocacy. Due to the sensitive nature of the material discussed, a screening process with A Safe Place is required prior to enrollment. For more information, call (847) 543-2315.

Note: A Safe Place provides this program. Special tuition rates are available for A Safe Place network partners including law enforcement and other social service agencies.

The Continuing Professional Development department of CLC’s Workforce and Professional Development Institute (WPDI) also offers courses in computers, project management, Lean Six Sigma, hospitality, grant writing skills, security officer basic, highway flagger, strategic sales, human resources, Spanish language and interpreter, real estate, teacher education and event planning.
