Course Information

This 2-day ‘Defensive Driving’ course is designed for law enforcement officers. Topics such as vehicle inspection, defensive driving strategies and tactics, officer physical and mental conditioning, traffic laws and court cases, driver’s responsibilities and liabilities will be discussed. Officers will be tested on various hands-on driving exercises to include two backing courses, figure-eight course, four serpentine exercises, and lane changing exercises, be tested on the “Profiler” computerized driving program, and the L3 Driving Simulator. This course is certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board for Illinois officers. A signed liability form is required to participate in day two of the training and will be faxed to the department prior to the start of the program.
